Weflow is the Revenue AI Orchestration platform for sales, customer success, and RevOps teams. It captures and records every email, meeting and call, turns conversations into structured CRM data you own, and forecasts on it. Backstory, formerly People.ai, captures email and calendar activity and reads transcripts other tools record.
We always believed that revenue and pipeline are driven by the bottom layer of data: activities. But without full activity capture, we couldn't see the full story.

What users of each tool say
What they like
“The absolute best part about Weflow is that it automatically summarises every single client call and drops the notes straight into Salesforce. I stopped writing up notes manually for the most time.”
LPLaszlo P.Enterprise, 5/5 · G2 review
Where it falls short
“There is a small lag when a new field is created on Salesforce, it doesn't instantly sync with WeFlow.”
ACAlisson C.Senior Account Executive (Mid-Market), 5/5 · G2 review
BackstoryWhat they like
“People AI. has given us great visibility into metrics driving our top of sales funnel such as meetings, calls, emails, etc.”
SPShivam P.Small-Business, 4.5/5 · G2 review
Where it falls short
“While People.ai does a good job at capturing contacts, it does maybe too well of a job. There may be some issues where unnecessary contact records are created, especially on the opportunity contacts.”

Frequently asked questions
Is Backstory the same as People.ai?
Yes. People.ai renamed itself Backstory in 2026 and kept the same product and data infrastructure; the company is still People.ai, Inc., trading as Backstory, and its help center still runs on help.people.ai. It now calls itself a revenue intelligence and AI answer platform for enterprise sales teams, and states that it is not a rep productivity tool or a call-recording tool.
Can Weflow replace Backstory?
Yes, for teams on Salesforce. Weflow covers Backstory's email and meeting capture, contact and contact role creation, deal views and forecasting, and adds call recording, AI Field Updates into any field type, attachments, an inbox add-in and EU hosting. You give up Backstory's Slack workflows, its Dynamics 365 and Oracle connections, and its free seats for managers, finance and ops.
Does Backstory record calls?
No. Backstory reads recordings and transcripts that Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex or Gong already hold, starting the day each integration is switched on, and writes its own output in English. Weflow records meetings with its notetaker, its desktop app and its iOS and Android apps, transcribes 96 languages, and writes the summary and full transcript into Salesforce.
We run People.ai, Clari and Clari Copilot. Can one platform replace all three?
Yes. Activity & Contact Capture at $19, Conversation Intelligence at $39 and Deal Intelligence & Forecasting at $39 per user per month cover capture, recording and forecasting, and the full platform is $79. Weflow imports your existing recording library at no extra cost, typically in 1–2 weeks, and forecast calls submitted in Clari import from Clari's API or a CSV.
How does contact and contact role creation compare?
Weflow creates missing Salesforce contacts from To and CC recipients, with rules that limit creation to existing accounts, cap contacts per email or meeting and block addresses such as info@, and it adds an Opportunity Contact Role when it logs an email. Backstory creates a contact only when the domain matches an account the user owns, and adds contact roles once one already exists on the deal.
How does Backstory price?
Backstory charges a platform fee for each connected customer-facing person whose activity it ingests, plus a pre-packaged allotment of AI answers, and publishes no figures. Viewers such as managers, finance and ops use it free. Weflow is priced per user per month, from $19 to $79, billed annually with a 10-user minimum and no platform fee, with AI included in the seat.
How does Backstory's forecasting compare?
Backstory Forecasting runs on Salesforce only, takes its values from opportunities, keeps weekly snapshots and lets managers adjust team roll-ups, not individual deals. Weflow's Deal Intelligence & Forecasting adds an AI projection with a low, middle and high range, deal-by-deal overrides with a logged reason, forecast accuracy by rep and team, and a pipeline waterfall between any two dates.
Where is our data hosted, and how is AI handled?
Weflow hosts in Frankfurt, New York or Sydney, matched to your Salesforce region with an EU or UK override, holds SOC 2 Type II with HIPAA, GDPR and CCPA compliance, and keeps zero AI data retention. Backstory hosts on AWS in the United States, runs its generative AI on Microsoft Azure, strips personal data before any model call and never trains models on customer data.
What does each install in Salesforce?
Weflow installs two managed packages and one integration user with a dedicated permission set, plus one mail app installed centrally in the Microsoft or Google admin console. Backstory installs a managed package with custom fields, components and pages; its integration user needs View All Data and View All Users, and its views load inside Salesforce only after SAML single sign-on is set up.
