Onboarding Plan Agent
Build each onboarding plan around the use case and success criteria that sales handed over, then give Customer Success a draft to review before the kickoff call.
- Trigger: a handoff is completed
- AI steps: draft the onboarding plan for the use case sold
- Output: a draft task assigned to Customer Success before the kickoff call

Agent breakdown
A blueprint to adapt, not a fixed recipe. Set the trigger, thresholds, and methodology that fit your team, and each step builds on the last, using the conversation and CRM context you already capture.
Run once the handoff is done
The agent runs once the handoff is complete. Waiting until this point means the plan reflects what sales actually passed to Customer Success, rather than relying only on what the opportunity says was sold.
- Trigger: A handoff is completed
- Timing: After the handoff, rather than at closed-won
Pull the use case that was sold
Next, the agent pulls the specific use case and success criteria from the closed-won deal. This keeps the onboarding plan focused on what the customer bought, instead of starting with the same product-based template for every customer.
- Scope: The closed-won deal
- Includes: The success criteria
- Excludes: Anything not sold
Draft the plan
Using the use case and success criteria from the deal, the agent drafts a tailored onboarding plan. It gives every step an owner and a date, and leaves out standard onboarding work that does not serve this customer’s use case.
Draft an onboarding plan for the use case that was sold.
Input: the use case and success criteria from the closed-won deal.
For each step in the plan:
- Describe the work required to onboard the customer for this use case.
- Give the step an owner.
- Give the step a date.
Rules: include only steps that serve the use case that was sold. Leave out anything that was not sold and any onboarding step that does not serve this use case, however standard it is.
Return the onboarding plan as a list of steps, with an owner and date for each step.
Hand it to Customer Success
Finally, the agent creates a task for Customer Success and includes the drafted onboarding plan. The task arrives before the kickoff call, giving the team time to edit and approve the plan before the customer sees it.
- Due: Before the kickoff call
- Includes: The plan as drafted
- Status: Draft, never sent
A tailored onboarding plan in a draft task for Customer Success
Give Customer Success a draft onboarding plan built around the use case and success criteria that sales handed over. The plan arrives in a task before the kickoff call, with an owner and date for every step, so the team can edit and approve it before sharing it with the customer.
- For Customer Success: Review the plan before the kickoff call, make any edits, and approve it before the customer sees it.
