Champion Departure Agent
Catch a champion or sponsor leaving a customer account, identify who Customer Success can rebuild the relationship with, and create the task before the renewal notices.
- Trigger: a champion leaves the account
- AI steps: identify up to three contacts to re-anchor on
- Output: a re-anchoring task assigned to the CS owner

Agent breakdown
A blueprint to adapt, not a fixed recipe. Set the trigger, thresholds, and methodology that fit your team, and each step builds on the last, using the conversation and CRM context you already capture.
Run when the champion leaves
When a champion leaves the account, the agent runs as soon as the role change is detected. Starting on the departure itself gives Customer Success the weeks straight afterwards to rebuild the relationship rather than waiting until the next account review.
- Trigger: A champion leaves the account
- Timing: When the role change is detected
Pull everyone else at the account
Next, the agent pulls every other contact at the account, along with their engagement and tenure. It excludes the departing contact and ranks the remaining people by engagement, since the next champion is usually somebody who already knows the account relationship.
- Fields: Engagement and tenure
- Excludes: The departing contact
- Ranks: By engagement
Pick who to re-anchor on
The agent reviews the remaining contacts and names up to three people worth rebuilding the relationship around. For each person, it explains what they already know about your company. If nobody is a suitable choice, it says so plainly rather than forcing a recommendation.
Identify who Customer Success should re-anchor the relationship on after a champion leaves this customer account.
Input: every other contact at the account, including their engagement and tenure. The departing contact is excluded, and the remaining contacts are ranked by engagement.
- Name up to three contacts worth building the relationship on.
- For each contact, explain what they already know about us based on the information provided.
- Explain briefly why each person is worth approaching.
- If there is nobody suitable, say so plainly.
Rules: do not include the departing contact. Do not name more than three people. Do not infer knowledge or relationships that the account information does not support.
Return a ranked list with the contact, what they already know about us, and why Customer Success should re-anchor on them. If there is nobody suitable, return one sentence saying so.
Task Customer Success within two weeks
Finally, the agent creates a task for the CS owner with the suggested contacts and a due date inside ten working days. It escalates the task to the CS lead, keeping the re-anchoring work close to the departure rather than letting it become part of the renewal conversation a month later.
- Due: Within ten working days
- Includes: The suggested contacts
- Escalates: To the CS lead
A re-anchoring task with suggested contacts assigned to the CS owner
Get a task within ten working days of a champion leaving, with up to three contacts worth rebuilding the relationship around and what each person already knows about your company. If nobody at the account is a suitable choice, the recommendation says so plainly.
